Chick, Chick, Chick, Chick, Chickennnnnnnnns

Lay a little egg for meeeeeeee!

The girls have finally arrived and are now settled into their new high tech home. Someone on Twitter said it looks like "the iMac" of the farming world, which is apt.

The brown one is Clover, the black one is Lily.

Lily is definitely the boss, she is a little bit braver than Clover - check out the pose.

Getting the girls home was a scream, they sat in a cardboard box, clucking away then it went quiet and we heard a "splat!" ewwwww chicken poo!

Needless to say that box is now away in the bin.

Almost as soon as they arrived they started scratching and making holes to sit in. They are very funny. Yesterday afternoon I heard Lily kicking off , making loud clucks!!! Hooray an egg I thought...... no chance, it was next doors cat staring in fascination at them through the hedge.

We don't expect eggs for a few weeks whilst they settle in. We can't let them free range in the garden for about 5 days since they need to know where "home" is. I'll be letting them out and keeping an eye on them in case Fantastic Mr Fox pops by anytime.

It's all very exciting.

Sew Sew

Gosh it's been a while since I posted eh? BAD Blogger...

OK so I am now officially half way through my radiotherapy treatment. To be honest it's actually been quite tough since it has made me very tired and apparently it will get worse ugh!!

Never mind, when I have the energy I have been sewing, yup I have rediscovered the art of sewing, it is BIG right now. I toddled off to John Lewis and bought the yummiest fabric and pattern from Amy Butler to make a bag.

This is the finished article, I am very proud of myself since it actually looks like it is supposed to. I showed Alan and he said "oh is that the new peg bag??" ARGGGGHH!! MEN!!!

My other news is that we are getting 2 hens this week. We have ordered an eglu which arrives tomorrow and we will be getting our two hens then too. We have decided to call them "Lily" and "Clover". Yesterday I went to a Hen Party , no, not the type with a male stripper, to learn about the Eglu and chickens. I had a great time and the lady that held the party, Stephanie, and her daughter and husband were very knowledgeable and helpful. Her hens are called "Boudica" and "Aphrodite" - here they are.....
This is their lovely pink hen house an "eglu" from Omlet, very cool.

As a bonus, Stephanie had made a cake and lovely egg mayo sarnies for us to sample - yum!

I'll be posting pics of the hens when we get them tomorrow, I am soooo excited.

Ho Hum Kinda Week

Well, not much to report at the mo.......

I am still plugging away with my daily dose of radiotherapy which is going fine really, bit of a drag going to hospital every day and I am so dense I fear I am going to forget to go one day, I'll need to carry round a hanky with a knot in the corner to remind me. It could be worse, my appt is first thing every morning and I am only 1.5 miles from the hospital so I shouldn't complain and it will of course (hopefully) keep the big C away for like EVER!!!!

Still on a major de-clutter in the house, ebaying stuff and getting rid of books on greenmetropolis.com ( I urge you to try it). Can't really relax and take it easy at the moment for some bizarre reason.

I found several old mobile phones this week and found that I could send them off for dosh which is brill. Downside is I found my Mum's mobile phone and lots of texts to me and her friends, there is even one from me on the day she died, which was sent before she died but she never responded...............(sigh!) I have a heavy heart today.

Toodle-oo, I'll be back on form again soon.

Late Night Drama

Well yesterday was a rather exciting day. Alan was off work for Bank Holiday and Alex was in school, so Alan and I went to Harvey Nicks in Edinburgh for lunch as a very rare treat.

Harvey Nicks is a great place to feel poor in, whilst all the ladies who lunch eye up each other's "it" bags like game hunters showing off their kill!!

Any-hoo , we had a yummy lunch and then I started to feel unwell. Joints aching, feeling really tired and a bit "fluey" . Have been feeling rather tired for a few days and spending a bit more time napping, it must be the tail end of the chemo catching up with me. When we got home I headed to bed still feeling rough. At 10pm I still felt hot and achy and thought I would take my temperature OH MY GOD it was 101.9F. So I panicked and ended up calling one of my neighbours who is a breast cancer oncologist (how cool is that?) She checked me over and whizzed me down to the Western General for a blood test just to make sure my cell counts were OK.

Good news was that all is fine I probably have a little virus is all, which meant to my great relief I was able to come home and not stay in overnight. I had to lie on a bed in a gown for an hour and I was not a happy bunny.

Feeling fine but a bit tired today.

A Paragon of Virtue

Well, as promised I have an update on my first PT (Personal Trainer) session which happened yesterday.

All went well, my friends are all telling me what a nit I am for not picking a gorgeous male trainer, I've gone for a nice friendly Australian lady called Tracy. Feeling as wobbly and lardy as I do, there was NO WAY I could cope with a male trainer.

So session one consisted of me "fessing up" to the food and alcohol I throw down my neck, didn't make for the best reading once it's all written down. In fact I have always thought food diaries were a waste of time. NO SIREEEEE, if you are feeling like you want to lose weight, do a food diary for a week, you'll wet yerself reading it on the last day. One day last week I ate 3 crumpets with butter and 5 slices of bread an butter (oopsy!!)

Any-hoo, we had a chat, she asked me what my goal was - which is "to try and lose weight" and we went off for a fast walk. That's all I need to do to burn fat, buy a heart monitor, and maintain a certain rate for 30 mins continous. We did 15 mins and it wasn't difficult and I felt great at the end.

We got home and did some stretches with the aid of a yoga belt (??) She asked me if I had one I replied " do I look like the kinda gal who has a yoga belt to you?" She admitted that I didn't look that type - ha ha!!

So all is going well, I have had lots more ideas for healthy eating from my nutrition session, so I am very conscious of what I am eating right now. Alan thinks I have gone bonkers. I went to the BEST health food shop today, full of totally "Right On" veggy types, lots of interesting stuff, unfortunately I had a whiny 6 year old in tow, who wasn't interested in herbs and grains.

Oh the radiotherapy is going well so far, only another 23 sessions to go........

Today is a little bit tinged with sadness, it would have been my brother's birthday today, he'd have been 39 bless him.

Laterz.....
