Mrs Potato Head

In anticipation of losing my hair when I start Chemo next week, I have had my hair cropped, not very keen to be honest but what can I do? The oncologist said not only will I lost my hair but I will be on steroids and will get the menopause early so I may put weight on............great, bald AND fat, I am gonna look like Humpty bloody Dumpty. Currently I think I look like a spud with hair (most attractive eh?)
I am trying to be a big brave girl about all this, but I have to admit to feeling rather low at the moment. At the moment I am "cancer free" which I am of course utterly grateful for, however I am under a black cloud of "what happens if it comes back". I want to see my little boy grow up................I just can't even go there.

So fingers , toes and eyes crossed that I will be one of the long term survivors, I don't care if I don't make it to 85 but another 20 years would be such a gift.

Enough of the pity party eh?

You have to stay positive Sam after your treatment there is no reason why you should not have 20 years and more with your family. My Mum in Law got through Breast Cancer years ago, she was 86 when she died!

Will be thinking about you next week.

Hey Sam - the haircut looks great to me though I suppose it'll take you a little while to get used to, not everyone can wear their hair short you know! Good luck with the chemo, hope it doesn't make you feel too horrible.

Sam,first of all I really like your haircut...its cool and funky:)Even before you announced about your illness on ILWS,I liked to read your blog and thought, she's a funny woman with a great sense of woman.I used to read your blog and smile to myself. Then, shortly after, I saw u on ILWS.And I have read from the beggining, to the anticipation of going hospital, the climax, the bad news, then the good news that its over, nothing to worry about.I must say, I find in you a strength I do not see very often in people.I had a friend who went through similar thing like you and she told me that, if you are positive, you will get through it, its in the mind, and the mind acts as a boost up and barrier....So Sam, keep it up, be positive.Yes, you will see your son grow up and you are great.
Please keep up your good sense of humour and your crafty works-Love them!
